Information Companions Service and Details
Who do we help?
Companions are available to help anyone who may otherwise be confined to the home or local area, giving independence and companionship to people who may feel insecure or lonely. We're based in Sutton Coldfield and support those who need our help in Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas. We're local people ourselves and understand the needs of the local community.
How do we charge?
The hourly rate will depend upon what the client requests and also whether it is a regular or one-off arrangement. Discounts are given to clients who use the service regularly.
Our charges reflect that this is an exclusive, personal service, delivered by professional staff. Charges range from £15-£20 per hour.
Priority Members can pay a monthly fee of £50 for four hours basic service (a saving of £2.50 per hour on the basic rate of £15). Any additional costs are agreed separately e.g. for materials, refreshments, transport, etc.
Travel to the Client’s home is included in our hourly rate. However, any mileage incurred in connection with fulfilling the Client’s request will be charged at 45 pence per mile in accordance with current HMRC guidelines.
The Client shall also be responsible for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by Arden Companions in delivering the service as agreed by the Client e.g. car parking.
Services are provided Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm, excluding public holidays.
The Client agrees to pay Arden Companions in cash or by cheque made payable to “Arden Companions” at each visit, or by BACS transfer in advance by arrangement.

Other bits and pieces
At Arden Companions, we offer flexible befriending and personal assistance for people who feel isolated and lonely, or maybe just need a little extra company and conversation. Our clients have found that regular companionship can really make a difference to their wellbeing, and helps them to feel stimulated both physically and mentally.
Isolation in later life is a serious and common problem, with over one million elderly people in the UK admitting to often or always feeling lonely. Sometimes, older people are reluctant to reach out to busy friends and relatives for support, and fear being seen as a burden. At Arden Companions, we understand, and we’re here to help.
Arden Companions are happy to engage in a wide range of leisure activities with clients — whether that’s scrapbooking, visiting neighbours, watching television or reading aloud. For an elderly person, companionship often seems just out of reach, but the helping hand of a Arden Companions can change that instantly.
It doesn’t take much for people to feel lonely in later life. Younger friends and family members are often out working during the day, and have their own homes and children to attend to in the evenings. This leaves many older people feeling lonely and isolated, and if mobility is a struggle, there doesn’t seem like there’s much that can be done. Recent figures suggest over 1 million older people haven’t spoken to anyone in over a month. We believe that nobody wants, or deserves, to feel lonely and helpless, and at Arden Companions, we can provide the companionship lots of elderly people so often crave.
We are happy to sit and talk, play games, complete puzzles or even just pop round for lunch. Our priority is to provide a service that our clients and their families are comfortable with and, most importantly, enjoy.
Clients have found that getting together with a companion is as beneficial as a therapy session. They feel revitalised and energised when they spend quality time with someone who understands them and is genuinely interested in them.
